Achilles’ materials carry an excellent reputation as automotive materials Cabron is a super-durable synthetic leather for automobiles, and Partner is a casting leather for cars. Both are ideal interior materials for car seats, door trim, steering wheels and more due to their strength, lightness, and flexibility.
We also provide various other materials, including products laminated with urethane and the like, as well as SP processed products with 3D design patterns that take advantage of urethane's resilience.
In addition to pursuing quality and design to meet a diverse range of needs for automobile, aircraft, and railway vehicle interiors, we are working hard to develop environmentally-friendly products.
Achilles' vinyl chloride leather, synthetic leather, and laminated products developed using our proprietary core technology satisfy the varied needs of the times. You can find them in all sorts of applications, ranging for daily necessities to industrial materials thanks to the features and benefits these materials provide: the high versatility and diverse design possibilities of vinyl chloride leather, and the light weight, soft feel and high fashion of synthetic leather (such as our proprietary product, Cabron).
What's more, our laminated products—bonded combinations of raw fabric, urethane foam, film, and more—are now essential materials in fields such as the industrial materials sector.
In 1948 we succeeded in developing and commercializing a soft vinyl chloride sheet for the first time in Japan. Ever since, Achilles has been providing versatile film products, from general-purpose films for wide-ranging applications to highly functional films for special purposes.
We have launched soft partition materials (such as Seiden Crystal) as well as antibacterial and antiviral films that provide highly functional and highly clean workspaces one after another. Thanks to their quality, these products all carry outstanding reputations in fields from stationery and wrapping among others, receiving high evaluations and support in markets at home and abroad.
Achilles film products also play important roles in the agricultural sector. Made using state-of-the-art facilities, we provide farmers with market-leading functional agricultural films including:
- Seiten, a highly functional general-purpose greenhouse vinyl film for outer covers developed using the latest compounding technology
- greenhouse vinyl film for inner covers or curtains, which has excellent insulation performance
- stain-resistant dust-proof greenhouse vinyl film
- UV-blocking greenhouse vinyl film for low-pesticide cultivation, and
- agricultural polyolefin (PO) film.
In addition, we have been actively promoting the development of materials used for general agricultural applications. These include the Bioflex series of earth-conscious biodegradable mulching film and a shading agent that suppresses overheating in greenhouses.
Exported to Europe, North America and right around the world, Achilles’ soft vinyl chloride-based window sheet and soft partition materials have earned acclaim for their high transparency. This is why they are widely used for outdoor purposes like boat and tent window or to achieve high functionality and high cleanliness in factory workspaces.
Achilles has long been manufacturing locally overseas. We opened our soft vinyl chloride film production subsidiary in Washington State in the U.S. in 1973. In 1993 our China plant opened to manufacture vinyl chloride leather for car seats and other automobile trim materials.
To ensure we keep meeting global demand various plastic materials, we continue to analyze and develop overseas markets, aggressively promoting local production using our technological strength.
Achilles continues to supply the market with flexible urethane foam products and their secondary processed product under the general trade mark of Achilles Airlon.
In addition to the seemingly contradictory traits of low and high viscoelasticity and low and high air permeability, Achilles Airlon products also feature functionalities or characteristics including low susceptibility static electricity charge and flame retardancy. Taking advantage of these, we serve the automobile, ship, light electrical appliance, construction, soundproofing, and damping materials, as well as materials essential for a comfortable home such as bedding, clothing, furniture, rugs, and sundries.

Manufacturing IT components requires sophisticated quality control. Achilles has answered the call with a range of technologies that includes state-of-the-art antistatic products.
In addition to antistatic products and packing materials that are essential for the production process of all kinds of electronic parts and components like semiconductor devices, hard disks, and LCDs, we develop and supply various products such as conductive plastics made using our proprietary conductive processing technology, ST polymer.
Achilles offers solutions and makes products that meet various needs of the electronics industry, including a wafer transport system that securely and efficiently transport semiconductor wafers, and electroless plating technology that employs conductive polymers.
Rim products are gaining attention for use in a range of scenarios because they significantly reduce the cost of molds, which have been an obstacle for large-scale plastic molding, and can handle small-lot production.
By taking advantage of our proprietary materials, molding and processing technologies, and assembling capability, Achilles can produce designs that satisfy a broad scope of applications and needs. We are also striving to manufacture products that take the global environment into consideration.
